This past Super Bowl had a very good commercial from Chrysler featuring the new 200 with Eminem at the wheel. It was the first time that Eminem allowed the use of his song “Lose Yourself”, from the Eight Mile soundtrack. It was a very well done ad, and started Chryslers “Imported From Detroit” slogan. Now Audi decided that Chryslers ad was so good that they just ripped them off. Audi didn’t use Eminems song, but they did use an unauthorized interpretation of it. Pretty cheesy Audi, pretty cheesy. Calm down, it’s just a concept, for now. The Audi A1, not sold in the US, has only been sold in a economical front-wheel-drive. Now the engineers at Audi thought it was a good idea to throw the world renowned Quattro All Wheel Drive system in it. Driving that is a extensively tuned 2.5-liter turbo five cylinder, pushing out just over 500 HP through a six-speed manual tranny. Audi claims that the ClubSport will hit 100km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds, with a top speed, electronically controlled, at 155 mph.
7-speed? Manual? Those two things have never been together before. Now Porsche is dropping in a 7-speed manual transmission into the new 2012 911 as one of the many transmission options. The rational behind having a seventh gear is to have a tall gear to cruise the highway in and loose a lot of engine noise, which is great when you have loud engine right behind you. Porsche is set to debut the new 911 in September at the Frankfurt auto show.
Nissan’s R35 GT-R is set to sing its final swansong, with production of the 2012 JDM model supposedly set to wrap up a stellar 6 year period, marked by accolades from all over the globe as the car to beat, a world class all round speed king of track and street and the performance buy of the decade. But Nissan isn’t quite done yet and we have some inside news as to what’s going on…
The 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe has been raising eyebrows since it first stepped on the scene a couple of years ago. Now that people can finally test it, it’ s only fair to put it up against the best little cars in Germany. Autocar decided it was a good idea to have it go up against the Porsche Cayman R.
